“I think Amazon feels pretty confident that they could attack any business they want, and the incumbents will spend four or five years resisting before they realize that they have no choice. Whereas a little proactive customer obsession on the part of any of those companies could probably make it so that Amazon decides to go elsewhere.”

    Len,

I purchased the Fire 10 when it went on sale for Black Friday. It works fine except that I can’t download movies at “Best” quality. Amazon Tech Support did not have an answer. Do you know if this is an issue with this model or my individual problem?

PS – With the Fire 10 including hands free Alexa, why wouldn’t this be the way to go rather than an Echo Show?

Jim, I am downloading an episode of Shameless at Best quality on my Fire HD 10, and it seems to be working okay. Do you have a micro SD card set up for downloads? It might be that you don’t have enough room on the HD 10 for large files.

I had the same question about the HD 10 as a substitute for the Echo Show. It turns out the HD 10 can’t do Drop In videos like the show does, and that’s the biggest reason I love the Show–for easy connections with my parents and other family members.

I do have an 32GB SD card, and the videos are saved to the card. But, it does seem to be a size issue because half hour videos can be downloaded at “Best”. Only the longer, full length films come back with an error. Amazon tried a reboot, and left me with the advice to try a lesser quality download.
