This is NOT the new Kindle...

In this abbreviated episode, I share impressions of the new Kindle with the only other person I know who saw one during previews conducted in Boston by Amazon.  Stephen Windwalker, creator of the Kindle Nation blog, took time out from his on-deadline authoring to explain why he believes Amazon has once again managed to hit “the sweet spot” with a host of new features and design improvements to the six-inch Kindle, available now for pre-order, with deliveries beginning August 27.

Congratulations on two years. This is the official calendar anniversary, and was supposed to be your anniversary podcast, but that has been delayed. nevertheless, I wanted to be the first. Two years is awesome.

And, to totally validate this poodcast program, you got the double secret invitation for a personal hands on meeting regarding the Kindle 3. I’d say you good, Kid!

A question for your future Amazon interview. I am confused by the recent DX model upgrade. Why didn’t they bring out a WiFi model to match what they did with the new Kindle? In fact why didn’t the DX upgrade match the new features in the Kindle. The DX upgrade preceded the Kindle new model by only a few weeks. Why not the new keyboard and button arrangement? I am about ready to buy a DX but have a lingering question in the back of my mind of whether I should wait for the future DX upgrade which will bring along the new Kindle features. The DX upgrade hits me as sort of strange in light of the new Kindle. Why did they do that in between thing on the DX when they had the changes underway with the new Kindle? Hope you can get the essence of my question.

    Thanks George
