Hi Len,
Thanks for your work on Kindle Chronicles. After getting my wife a Kindle2 for her birthday in July (at her request, surprisingly) I liked it so much I asked for one for my birthday in September. I have since found your podcast and enjoy it each week. The tip on the Calibre program is much appreciated--it's almost like itunes for your Kindle.
Regarding the screen resolution question: I upgraded manually to Version 2.3 several weeks ago for the PDF handling update. (I'm experimenting with the usefulness of the Kindle for work.) This wasn't an issue for my wife, so I left her's at Version 2.0.3.
After listening to this week's podcast I was curious and decided to do a side-by-side comparison to see if there is any difference in the screen resolution. I expected there really wasn't, so was surprised by the comparison results.
I set both Kindles to the Settings page for the comparison.
Version 2.3 has a lighter background color than Version 2.0.3. The type on Version 2.3 also seems slightly bolder. The result is Version 2.0.3 almost looks like it's in a slight fog in comparison to Version 2.3.
After seeing the difference, I will probably now upgrade my wife's Kindle just for the better resolution.
Hope this helps,
Happy Holidays,
Keep up the good work.
