Len,
Inspired by your highly professional podcast and website I have just ordered a Kindle 2 international. If you want to play with it, I'd be pleased to bring it to Cambridge when I am there in Dec. I did use one of the links on your website so I hope you get a credit. I found the information on covers poor and confusing on the Amazon website. I ordered a cheap one that came in two colors and there was no way to select the color. Your listener who suggested more advice on covers has a good point. I'd also like a section on the website with help for beginning users such as myself, but you have too much to do already I am sure.

Hi.

Re. Covers: I've reflected on this some, since people on the forum at Amazon frequently ask for recommendations. Three things to consider: Size, Weight, and Stiffness. There are also a couple of covers in the world that will stand up like an easel. So one might consider that as well.

Many of the M-Edge covers are wider than the Kindle, to accomodate an integrated booklight (sold separately). I think the other covers are about the same dimensions as the Kindles. Some covers are heavier than others. The Oberons are beautiful, but rather weighty. If one carries a soft-sided bag, like a messenger bag, I might recommend a stiffer cover, like the M-Edge. If one carries a hard briefcase this might not matter, especially if one can immobilize the device in a pocket of such a thing.

Not trying to be exhaustive - just giving a couple of examples. I think the best approach, is to think hard about one's needs for protecting the device, and how one is planning to carry it around and use it.

Kindle Chronicles...

A few things to post about today, but first I need to sleep, so until this afternoon I'll give you something to listen to.

For those of you who are interested in the Kindle reader, there is no better podcast than Len Edgerly’s ‘The Kindle Chronicles...
